The Choice That Will Change Your Life

The Choice That Will Change Your Life

"Life doesn't happen to you, it happens for you." - Tony Robbins / Jim Carrey

Why do we make life so complicated?

What if we just stopped for a moment… took a deep breath… and allowed ourselves to be right here, right now?

No replaying the past.

No rehearsing the future.

Just this moment.

Because in this moment, there is nothing but peace.

No stories... No what ifs.

No emotional baggage dragging us backwards or pulling us forwards.

Just peace.

The magic begins when we stop seeing life as something that happens to us and start recognising that it’s actually happening for us. That one shift alone opens a whole new world of possibility.

When we’re willing to look beyond the surface of events that happen in our lives, we reclaim our power. We stop being passengers in our lives, travelling on autopilot, and step back into the driver’s seat.

Looking back at the most devastating moments of my life, what I couldn’t see at the time was that I had a choice.

Not a choice about what happened… but a choice in how I responded.

I reacted the only way I knew how. It caused me to stay stuck for decades, hanging on, waiting to be seen, validated, and waiting for someone to save me. My body lived in constant fight-or-flight. I developed stage-four disease, and even though my life looked fine on the outside, there was a constant hum of sadness, that I couldn't shake, beneath it all.

What I didn’t realise then was this...

If I’d been able to receive those moments as for me, not against me, they would have strengthened me instead of breaking me.

I know this because the moment I shifted my internal state to receive the gift of the moment, I felt the energetic shift instantly, and my body began to heal.

Understanding that everyone is human, doing the best they can with the neural wiring they have at the time, allowed me to find forgiveness. Not for them… for me. That’s when the heaviness lifted.

The moment I stopped taking everything personally and allowed empathy in, my personal power began to rise. It gave me my life back.

This wasn’t about giving in. It was about taking responsibility, dropping the people-pleasing, and standing firmly on my own two feet.

It was about letting go and allowing life to flow, and for the bigger picture to unfold.

Big, impactful events don’t show up to punish us — they show up to reroute us. They shake things loose so we can change direction. We can resist that gift and suffer… or we can lean in, get curious, and rise.

These days, I get excited when a major shake-up happens. I know it means something better is lining up. Especially, job losses. They’re my personal favourite now. Every single time the Universe boots me out of something that’s no longer aligned, something far bigger and better appears.

Had I known this 30 years ago, my life would’ve unfolded very differently. And yet… I’m deeply grateful for every rise and fall. They've shaped me, guided me, and opened my eyes to a world far richer than the surface-level one we’re taught to live in.

This isn’t about denying pain. Pain must be felt, processed, and honoured.

It's knowing that, when you’re ready, you always have a choice.

It’s not what happens to you.

It’s how you respond that counts... and that changes everything.

The outcome of your life begins with you.
